Duck Hunt
Duck Hunt used the NES Zapper light gun to create the simulated fun of shooting ducks flying across the screen. This game was one of the two that were originally packaged with the NES console. Duck Hunt had three different modes that included one duck, two ducks and a clay pigeon mode. A dog accompanies the player by sniffing around the area before the shooting takes places. If the player was successful in shooting the duck he would retrieve it, but if the player failed to shoot the duck he would laugh derisively.
10-Yard Fight
10-Yard Fight is the original precursor to all the very sophisticated motion-capture football simulator games of today. The graphics of 10-Yard Fight were considerably less impressive, featuring just a handful of barely recognizable football players. The game is played as if being viewed from a blimp. There were four different levels of difficulty ranging from high school to Super Bowl. Offensive gameplay was essentially based on the college option play and the defense was managed by a combination of control of one player while the computer controlled the others.
Super Mario Brothers
One of the most popular original Nintendo video games was Super Mario Brothers. The original game has spawned a number of different sequels across Nintendo̵7;s many platforms. The game is an example of sideways scrolling in which Mario must make his way through the Mushroom Kingdom to save Princess Toadstool.
Kung Fu Master
Kung Fu Master was actually based on a Jackie Chan movie and is another side-scrolling game. Players attempt to rescue the girlfriend of the protagonist who has infamously been attacked by several unknown guys. The game is seen as the inspiration for much more successful martial arts games like Double Dragon.
Tennis
Nintendo Tennis expanded upon the popularity of Pong by creating a virtual tennis court that enhanced the gameplay of the older game by placing it within the context of tennis. The primary difference between Tennis and Pong is that players could not play against each other, but only against the CPU. However, a doubles mode allowed two players to play against two computer controlled players. The referee presiding over the matches was Mario.
