Mike Tyson's Punch Out Cheats

Mike Tyson's Punch-out for the Nintendo Entertainment System has some of the hardest boxers to beat known to a boxing game. The game gets its namesake from having Mike Tyson as the final challenge. Because more than a dozen boxers appear prior to the end of the game, you'll need shortcuts to get to the final fight, as well as the strategy to win. Although Mike Tyson is fast, he has a predictable rhythm and can be beaten.
  1. Shortcut Codes

    • Mike Tyson's Punch-Out has a Continue option at the main title screen. If you know the numerical codes, you can start from the Major Circuit, the World Circuit, at the second-to-last fighter--Super Macho Man--or at Mike Tyson.

To start at the Major Circuit, enter the code 005 737 5423.

To start at the World Circuit, enter 777 807 3454.

For Super Macho Man, enter 267 853 7538.

Finally, to fight Mike Tyson without having to go through the other opponents, enter 007 373 5963.

These codes will also affect your win-loss record, but the record has no affect on game play.

    Super Macho Man

    • Super Macho Man has only three attacks, an uppercut and a spin attack that can deal from one to eight hits. He winds up as if delivering a left hook. Duck by tapping "down" twice on the control pad, and continue doing so just before each hit. Once he finishes, his back will be to you. Attack with a series of left and right hooks to the face. Dodge his uppercuts and move back immediately. His hooks work the same way. He alternates right and left sides, so you can predict where his next attack will come from.

    Mike Tyson

    • Mike Tyson has a small selection of punches, but the delivery comes so quickly it throws most players off. In the first round up to the 1:40 mark on the timer, Mike will use uppercuts. Dodge left or right, return to center and deliver two hooks. After 1:40, he resorts to jabs. These come faster, but the technique to counter them remains the same. At the start of the third round, he'll use a series of nine right crosses followed by a left cross. Continue the strategy of dodging and countering with hooks until the round ends. If you've achieved 5,000 points, you'll win by decision, according to GameFAQs.
