Super Nintendo Entertainment System Instructions

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) was the second home console manufactured by Nintendo of America after the success of the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The console was released in 1991 with the pack-in game "Super Mario World" and featured 16-bit graphics and improved sound from the NES.
  1. Connecting the System

    • Use the stereo audio/video cable to connect the SNES to modern televisions. The yellow, white and red cables insert into the corresponding jacks in the back of the television, while the other end of the cable is connected to the multi-out jack on the back of the SNES. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet and the AC plug on the back of the console.

    Connecting the Controllers

    • The two controllers connect to the sockets in front of the SNES console. Make sure if you are playing alone that you connect and use a controller in the one slot on the left side of the system. The "Select" and "Start" buttons will only work on the menu screens of games on the controller in the one slot.

    Playing Games

    • Turn your television to Channel 3 and keep the power of the console off as you insert a game cartridge into the slot on top of the system. Slide the power button on the SNES to the "On" position. The red power light on the front of the system should be lit. Turn the system off before ejecting the game cartridge.

    Troubleshooting

    • Check to see that all of the cords are properly inserted into the console, television and wall outlet. If the power is on but the game does not work properly, try turning the power off, ejecting the game, reinserting it and then turning the power back on.
