How to Download the Full Version of Sonic Games

The Sonic the Hedgehog series has seen games released on several consoles since it first made a name for itself on the Sega Master System. Now that gamers are able to purchase gaming content directly to their consoles, older games have become available for download. Owners of the Nintendo Wii, PSP, Xbox 360 and multiple versions of the iPod can download full versions of Sonic games using each console's online store.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the device you wish to download the Sonic game onto. Each device supports different games. For example, the Wii has each Sonic game available as a separate download while the PSP offers several games in the series as part of a collection.

    • 2

Access the game store of your chosen device. You can use your computer and iTunes for iPod software and Media Go for PSP software. Search for the Sonic game you wish to purchase. Newer games in the series such as those released on the PlayStation 2 and later will not be available for download.

    • 3

Select the game and add it to your cart. If you wish to purchase multiple games for the series, do so now and download them all together. Add each one to your cart and then proceed to the purchasing screen.

    • 4

Select the payment method you wish to use to purchase the games. You can use a credit card or a points card. Each console and iPod can use a points card for content if you do not have a credit card. Purchase these cards at an electronics retailer such as Best Buy or GameStop.

    • 5

Confirm your purchase and begin downloading the games. The file size can reach almost 800MB for larger games such as the Sega Collection. Individual Sonic games are normally under five megabytes.

    • 6

Launch your downloaded Sonic game on the console of your choice and begin playing.
