Things You'll Need
Instructions
Download the most recent version of the Project64 software. As of October 2009, version 1.6 is the latest release with version 1.7 in the beta-testing phase. You can find the software on the Project64 homepage.
Install the Project64 software onto your computer. You will need to have at least a Pentium 3 or AMD Athlon 800Mhz processor and 256MB of RAM to effectively run the software and any downloaded Zelda games. Also free up 1GB of hard drive space for the software, games, saves and updates.
Visit a website that carries ROMS such as RomNation or DopeRoms. Search their catalog for the Zelda games that appeared on the Nintendo 64.
Download the zip file containing your Zelda game. The Project64 software will only play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Zelda games released on previous consoles will need their own emulator to function.
Unzip the downloaded Zelda game and place it in a folder on your computer's desktop. Launch the Project64 software and open the "Rom Browser" from the main menu.
Select the folder where your Zelda Rom is located and then choose the ROM file. It should be the only file listed in the browser. This will launch the game in Project64.
