Exploration
Explore each level thoroughly. Coins, bananas and other items are hidden throughout each level. If you miss an important item like a DK coin or a banana bird, replay the level and look for hidden areas. You need to collect every DK coin, banana bird and bonus coin to complete the game. Suspicious vines, trees or ledges may lead to hidden areas. The level's flag will fly fully in the wind if you complete all the level's bonus rooms, and a gold pennant will appear near the flag if you collect the DK coin.
Enemies
When you encounter a new enemy, do not rush to attack it right away. Watch its movements for a moment to learn its attack pattern. Hit the enemy when it is vulnerable or stunned. For example, if you encounter Bristles, avoid it while it is spinning and hit it from the front when it is walking. Buzz is invulnerable to jump attacks and can only be defeated with a barrel. If you find a DK coin enemy, hit it in the back with the steel barrel to defeat it and gain the coin.
Items
Collect balloons to gain extra lives. A red balloon gives you one free life, a green one gives you two, and a blue one gives you three. You can also gain extra lives by collecting 100 bananas or finding the four "Kong" letters hidden throughout each level. Collect bear coins to purchase new items from the Brothers Bear shops. Hidden World
After you have completed the game's main levels, you can unlock a hidden world to discover the true ending of the game. Locate the four rocks in the water near the Mekanos area. Use the jet ski or hovercraft to drive around the rocks clockwise. After you have completed enough laps, a volcano will appear. Enter the volcano to discover the lost world of Krematoa. Complete Krematoa to finish the game.
