Pac Man Rules

Pac-Man is a very simple video game created in 1980. You control Pac-Man, who is out to eat everything in a maze full of dots and pellets. But four ghosts in the maze are out to destroy you, unless you can stop them with your power pellets.
  1. Control

    • The game requires only a directional pad or joystick, as it only involves moving Pac-Man in any of the four main directions---up, down, left and right---through a single maze-like room.

    Objective

    • The object is to eat all 240 Pac-dots and four power pellets within the maze. The dots are worth 10 points each and the power pellets are worth 50. When all are consumed, the game advances to the next level where you begin again.

    Fruits

    • A bonus fruit appears after you eat 70 dots and then again after 100 more. Level One has a cherry worth 100 points, Level Two has a strawberry worth 300 and Level Three has an orange worth 500. The point values continue to increase with each level.

    Ghosts

    • Blinky (red) and Pinky (pink) will pursue you, while Inky (green) and Clyde (orange) move about randomly. Blinky increases in speed as you eat more dots.

    Power Pellets

    • The power pellets turn the ghosts temporarily blue, and you can eat them at this time. The first ghost eaten gives you 200 points, and this doubles each time until the last ghost gives you 1600. The amount of time the ghosts stay blue gets shorter with each level.

    Lives

    • The game gives you three lives, and you lose one whenever you touch a ghost. You get one extra life during the game once you reach 10,000 points. If you lose all lives, the game is over.
