How to Defeat All Bosses in Mega Man 9

Although technology has made great strides since the Nintendo era, Capcom decided that Mega Man 9 would be best with 8-bit graphics and sound, for a true return to form. While the original games were hard, Mega Man 9 can be frustratingly difficult, especially if you bring the wrong weapons to each boss battle. Here's the right order and methods to defeat the evil robots.

Start with Splash Woman. Begin shooting her immediately. Stay low and shoot the bottom fish when they fly across the screen (they come from the direction in which Splash Woman is facing when she sings). Avoid her laser tridents and keep your distance before she charges down at you. Then begin shooting her again. Repeat this cycle.

    • 2

Use the Laser Trident to defeat Concrete Man. Anticipate his movements: When he rushes toward you, jump over him and quickly fire back in his direction, but move away swiftly to avoid his concrete shots. When he jumps in the air, move out of his way and jump in the air to avoid being rattled. Fire back, but be ready to jump over him if he charges toward you.

    • 3

Use the Concrete Shot to defeat Galaxy Man. If he charges at you, fire at him once (do not worry if you get hit). When he fires a black hole, run away so you have some distance from the blast. Keep running away from the gravitational pull, but quickly turn around and shoot once when Gravity Man appears behind you. Take advantage of the free shot when he drops to the ground.

    • 4

Defeat Jewel Man with the Black Hole Bomb. When he first appears, fire your weapon, then press "fire" again when the bomb is roughly 1/3 of the way to the far wall. Jewel Man should run into this explosion twice, causing massive damage. Repeat this process a few times and you should defeat the boss before your health runs out; but try to jump over his attacks, just to be safe.

    • 5

Beat Plug Man with the Jewel Satellite. Head to the middle of the stage and activate your weapon by pressing the "fire: button, but do not fire it by pressing the button again. Instead, simply get near Plug Man to inflict massive damage. Reactivate your weapon and repeat the process.

    • 6

Use the Plug Ball to defeat Tornado Man, shooting roughly once per second. When he raises his fist, watch for tornadoes and avoid them by running and jumping. But be careful not to jump too high, or you might hit the spikes on the ceiling. Otherwise, be ready to dodge Tornado Man when he lands on the ground. Your Plug Balls will follow the walls, so they may hit him even if he is floating high in the air.

    • 7

Use the Tornado Blow to beat Magma Man. Shoot and you'll automatically hit him, then jump in the air to avoid any projectiles. Wait roughly 2 seconds before firing again or you'll waste a shot. Finish him off with a few shots from your regular cannon.

    • 8

Use the Magma Bazooka to defeat Hornet Man. Charge your shot by holding down the "fire" button. Get close to Hornet Man (don't worry if you are hit), and unload your powerful shot. Repeat this action a few times to destroy him.
