How to Find the Empire Sword in Breath of Fire 2

The Super Nintendo role-playing game Breath of Fire 2 has several special items that can only be found by playing a fishing mini-game. If you find the correct fishing pole and use a certain type of bait in a specific fishing spot, you can find the most powerful weapon in the game.

Breath of Fire 2 game (SNES or GBA version)

  Play through the game until the party reaches the city called Evrai.

  Go inside the inn and search the dresser drawer to find the Charm Rod. Equip the rod in the "accessory" slot of the main character. Head to the item shop and buy an "urchin" item for use as fishing bait.

  Leave Evrai and have the character named Nina transform into a bird. Fly past the mountain range to the east of the city called Township and then land.

  Find the fishing hole nearby on the waterline.

  Use the urchin as bait and cast out your line with the Charm Rod. Drag the bait across the bottom of the river and you should catch a treasure chest. Drag the chest to the shore to receive the Empire Sword.
