Find a freeware or shareware Commodore 64 emulator. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Commodore 64, dozens of programs are available for download at little to no cost. Some of these programs are not fully functional, so read software reviews to find the most stable programs. Take a look at Computer Brains for a reliable shareware emulator (see Resources below).
Buy a commodore 64 emulator. Several emulators are available for purchase. Many of these are shareware programs, which means you can play it before you buy it. At a cost of $20 to $30, these shareware programs are well worth the cost if you plan to use the emulator for more than a few hours. Take a look at Zophar's Domain for some reasonably priced emulators (see Resources below).
Join an online forum of Commodore 64 enthusiasts. Thousands of mature computer users enjoy the thrill of reliving the Commodore 64's heyday, and a new generation of gamers and programmers have joined the crowd. Forums are a good source of emulators, reviews and assistance. Participate in the forums on the Emulator Zone for some great interaction (see Resources below).
Check out one of the larger online gaming advice Web communities. These gaming index websites have advice and links to emulators available for download. Millions of gamers and computer hobbyist review and comment on every facet of computers old and new, and man of them got their start with a Commodore 64. Gamespot is one of the largest community of online gamers and they offer not only free advice and loads of freebies (see Resources below).
