How to Exorcise the Ghost of Cyrus in Chrono Trigger

A classic role-playing gem for the now-defunct Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the game Chrono Trigger offered more than 50 hours of enjoyable gaming and numerous side quests not directly connected to the main plot. While the game is hard to come by except for online auction sites or pawn shops, it is well worth the effort to pick up. Near the end of the game, the party will find that the ghost of an old friend is uneasy, haunting a ruined castle near a large town. Putting the ghost of Cyrus to ease will allow the character Frog to receive his most powerful weapon and change the course of history.

  Play through the game until you have the time traveling ship called the Epoch outfitted with wings and the main character Chrono is killed by Lavos.

  Go to the year 1000 A.D. and fly to the town of Choras. Land the Epoch near the large castle to the north of Choras.

  Enter the ruins and initiate combat with the ghost near the stairwell. None of your attacks will do any damage, and after a few moments, the ghost will break out of combat. If you have Frog in your party, he will realize that this is the ghost of his old companion Cyrus. Leave the ruins and speak with the people in the houses of Choras, who will all mention that the castle ruins are haunted.

  Travel back to the year 600 A.D. and go to the tavern in Choras. Speak with the man at the end of the table, who will say that he has misplaced his tools and can't fix up the ruins. Get back in the Epoch and go the year 1000 A.D. again and go to Choras' inn. Speak with the carpenter there who will agree to let you use his tools. Go to the carpenter's house and speak with his wife, who will give the tools to the party.

  Return to the year 600 A.D. and speak with the carpenter at the tavern again, letting him know you have some tools for him to use. He will leave and go to his house. Follow him and then speak with him again in his home. He will gather together his workers and head to the ruins to get to work.

  Walk into the ruins of the castle. The carpenter will let the party know that they have done all the work they can do for now, because all the monsters are preventing them from finishing their job. Go through the rooms you have access to and kill all the monsters.

  Head back to the carpenter's house and let him know you got rid of the monsters. Repeat this again, going to the ruins and wiping out the monsters in the new rooms you have access to, and then go back to carpenter's again and have him finish the repair job.

  Add Frog into your party if he isn't already there, and then find Cyrus' grave at the bottom of the ruins once the repairs are finished. Frog will exorcise Cyrus' ghost so that he no longer haunts the area. If you go back to the year 1000 A.D., the people of Choras will now talk about the ruins holding the grave of a hero instead of being haunted.
