How to Charge the Sun Stone in Chrono Trigger

The Sun Stone has been drained of it's power and is no longer useful for forging weapons, but if you find the proper way to charge the stone in sunlight for millions of years, it can be used to make the best weapon in the game for the character Lucca in Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Trigger game (SNES or PS1 version)
SNES or PS1 game console

Instructions

  Play through the majority of the game until the time traveling airship called the Epoch has been outfitted with wings and the Black Omen has risen from the sea.

  Travel to 2300 A.D. and fly to a small island near Death Peak with a single cave and one ruined building on it. Land on the island and enter the cave.

  Battle the boss inside the cave called the "Son of Sun." After the battle the monster will leave behind the Moon Stone. Take the Moon Stone and get back into the Epoch to travel back to the year 65,000,000 B.C.

  Find a similar island with a small cave called the "Sun Keep" to the north and east of the mountain where Ayla summoned the Dactyls back towards the middle of the game. Land on the island and go inside the cave. At the top of the cave, drop off the Moon Stone in the shaft of light.

  Leave the island and travel back to the year 2300 A.D. Enter the Sun Keep to find out that the Moon Stone has gone missing. Go back the year 1000 A.D. to investigate the Sun Keep in that time period and see that is is still missing then.

  Fly the Epoch over near the city of Porre and you will notice that the mayor's house is shining very brightly. Go inside to speak with the mayor. He will lie and say he does not have the Moon Stone.

  Go over to the building called the "Snail Shop" in Porre and buy the Jerky from the store owner. Once you have the Jerky, travel back in time to the year 600 A.D.

  Speak with the mayor's descendants in the year 600 A.D. One of them will state she wants to make dinner with Jerky but doesn't have any. Choose the dialog option to give her the Jerky at no charge, then leave and go back to the year 1000 A.D.

  Talk with the mayor again and this time he will give the party the Moon Stone. Put the Moon Stone back in the Sun Keep and then travel to the year 2300 A.D.

  Enter the Sun Keep again and you will see that the Moon Stone has been fully charged and is now called the Sun Stone. Lucca will take the Sun Stone and use it to make herself a new weapon and set of armor.
