How to Acquire the Bahamut Esper in Final Fantasy 6

Bahamut has become an iconic staple of the Final Fantasy games and remains a consistently powerful dragon ally to the party throughout each entry in the series. True to form, the Bahamut of Final Fantasy 6 is a dragon who can teach the party one of the strongest combat spells in the game. It's easy to miss Bahamut, because he can only be found by spending a large amount of time flying in the airship in the world of ruin, where random battles do not normally occur.

  Wrap up the first half of the game, playing through until you reach the world of ruin. Have the character named Celes escape the small island she becomes trapped on using a raft and proceed on through the next few segments of the game to find Sabin and Edgar and have them re-join the party.

  Walk to the city Kohlingen and locate the wandering gambler Setzer in the town's cafe. Take Setzer to Darill's Tomb and explore the whole area. At the tend of the Tomb, Setzer will find a new airship for the party to use.

  Take to the skies with the airship and randomly fly around any area of the entire world map. Eventually the party will be attacked in the air by a dragon named "Doom Gaze".

  Fight Doom Gaze until the party deals enough damage to him to make him flee.

  Keep flying around until Doom Gaze attacks the party again. You will need to repeat this process several times, as he will usually flee after taking just over 10,000 points of damage, and he has a total of 55,555 hit points. Once Doom Gaze is dead, the party will receive the Bahamut Esper.
