How to Acquire General Kaus Debonair in Ogre Battle

Play through the first nine levels of Ogre Battle following the path of good until you reach the Diaspola area. Always refuse assistance or bribes from thieves, keep your units a level or two below the enemy unit's experience levels, only send an army with very high charisma and alignment to liberate cities and make absolutely certain to never allow a liberated city to be retaken by the Empire's forces.

Fight your way through the Diaspola area and take an army to fight the boss, a holy shaman named Norn. She will fight the rebellion because she is in love with Debonair and believes that your armies have killed him.

Defeat Norn in combat. Because of her high alignment, the "Devil" Tarot card will deal a large amount of damage to her quickly. After the battle Norn will ask you to kill her for her crimes and her role in allowing the evil wizard Rashidi to corrupt the Empress, but she will only ask this if your opinion leader has a very high reputation. Refuse to kill her and instead choose the option to ask her to join the rebellion.

Continue playing through the game with a high reputation until you reach the Shangrila area. Deploy an army containing Norn and defeat the boss of Shangrila. As long as your reputation is incredibly high and you have Norn deployed General Debonair will then offer to join the rebellion.

Accept Debonair's offer to have him join as a usable character. If you refuse his offer, he will instead give his magic sword to the opinion leader, but he is then forever lost and cannot be added to the rebellion later.
