Travel to the city called Narshe in the world of ruin either by foot or via airship any time after you have convinced the thief Locke to re-join the group. Head to the back of the town and travel through the mines until reaching the cave filled with moogles.
Speak with the moogle named Mog and ask him to join the party. Put Mog and and any other three people you prefer in the group.
Go back through the mines until you reach the place where the party defended the esper Tritoch from Kefka's army much earlier in the game. Defeat the ice dragon who has taken up residence there and then continue on across the bridge to the fight Tritoch for the final time.
Jump down the cliff face after beating Tritoch and travel through the caves. Watch out for the holes in the floor, because if the party walks on them, they will drop down to a different area and have to climb there way back up.
Pull the second switch on the wall at the end of the cave system. A hole will open up underneath the party, sending them falling to another cave with a skull at the center. Examine the skull to find a piece of magicite. After taking the magicite, Umaro will enter the room in a rage and attack the group.
Beat Umaro in combat. As long as you have Mog in your party, he will then convince Umaro to join the group.
