The Atari Jaguar was touted as the first 64-bit video game console system and was Atari's final hope to rival Sega and Super Nintendo in the gaming hardware business. The Jaguar was a commercial failure and prompted Atari to get out of the hardware end of the business. But, despite these setbacks, the Jaguar developed a big cult following and continues to have a fairly large fan base today.

The unit plugs into the game cartridge slot and allows users to play games on CD as well as the original cartridge games.
