How to Import New Textures Into Minecraft

The indie hit "Minecraft" is a game all about customizing your world, and that ability extends all the way to the default textures the engine uses. Texture packs are readily available for download on various fan websites. You can choose from a wide variety of texture packs, from simplistic and cartoony to ultra-realistic. Once you've downloaded the texture pack you want, importing it into the game is a simple matter of placing it into the correct folder.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the "Minecraft" launcher, sign in to your account if prompted to and click "Play." Wait for the game to load.

    • 2

Click "Options," then click "Resource Packs."

    • 3

Click "Open Resource Pack Folder." This opens the folder in which you need to place the texture pack you want to install.

    • 4

Move or copy the texture pack file from its current location on your hard drive to the resource pack folder. You do not need to unzip the file. Once the texture pack is in the folder, it will automatically appear in the list of texture packs in the "Minecraft" interface.

    • 5

Click the texture pack's entry in the list to apply it to the game. Depending on its size and complexity, you may have to wait a few seconds for this to happen. The active texture pack is highlighted in the list.

    • 6

Click "Done" and then click "Done" again to return to the main "Minecraft" screen.
