Install and Set Up Software
"Minecraft" has no native support for recording gameplay. In order to create videos, you need to download and install the appropriate software. Software such as Bandicam and Fraps (links in Resources) offer free trial versions that limit the recording time and add a watermark to the videos unless you pay to register the software. You can also use freeware programs such as EZvid or Camstudio (links in Resources) for recording. Familiarize yourself with the settings of your recording software, and ensure that the resolution and quality of your videos are high enough that your viewers can see everything clearly.
Update Game
Before starting your recording, ensure that your version of the game is updated to the latest version. People who view your video will likely skip ahead or close the video if you include boring sections such as the game updating in the clip. Making sure that the game is fully updated before you record will also save you time during the editing process, as you will not have to cut out this section. If the purpose of your video is to demonstrate features or teach viewers how to perform certain actions, it is important that you are using the most up-to-date version of the game so that it matches what the viewers will see when they buy or play the game themselves.
Set Up Computer
Close down any non-essential programs before starting your recording to reduce the risk of slowdown or interruptions. While "Minecraft" is not very resource intensive, performance can be sluggish if you record the gameplay and have other applications running in the background. Disable or close applications such as Skype or instant messenger programs to prevent interruptions or distracting pop-ups while you are busy recording. If you are recording your voice while playing, ensure that the levels are set correctly in order for viewers to hear you clearly. It is also very important to ensure that you have enough space on your hard drive for the video file.
Edit Your Videos
"Minecraft" contains a lot of repetition for certain tasks, such as gathering resources. Consider speeding up or editing out these sections if they are not essential to what you are explaining in order to prevent boring your viewers. Make your video exciting to watch by including relevant and entertaining comments while playing. Use software such as Windows Movie Maker and VirtualDub (links in Resources) to edit your videos before uploading the results online.
