How to Install Source Mods

The Source engine used by Valve to create games for their Steam digital distribution platform can also be used to create custom modifications called "mods." These Source mods are available for free and players use them to play new single- and multi-player games through Steam. Previously, Source mods required that players purchase at least one game on Steam that makes use of the Source engine in order for the mod to work. However, Valve released Source engine game "Team Fortress 2" as a free-to-play title in 2011 that enables all Steam users to install and play Source mods.
