How to Download Skyrim Mods to Your Hard Drive From Steam

Modifications, which expand "Skyrim" with new content and enhancements, used to require special procedures to install. Luckily, "Skyrim" received Steam Workshop support in 2012, streamlining the process of downloading and installing mods. Once you select a mod from the workshop it is automatically installed to the correct folder and updated each time a new version of the mod is released, so you no longer need to use third-party programs to download mods for the game.

  Launch Steam and sign in to your account.

  Click "Library" at the top of the screen and then right-click "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" from your list of games.

  Click "View Community Hub" from the list of options and then click the "Workshop" tab.

  Click the check box next to the type of mod in the "Category" section that you are interested in downloading. For example, if you are interested in mods that alter the towns in the game, click the check box next to "Towns."

  Click the name or thumbnail of the mod that you want to download to view a description and screenshots.

  Click the green "+Subscribe" button if you are sure that you want to download the mod. A confirmation message is shown stating that the mod has been added to your list of subscriptions.

  Hover your mouse cursor over "Library" and click "Downloads" from the list of options to view the download progress of the mod.
