How to Make Your Own Terraria Multiplayer Server

Playing "Terraria" with your friends is simple if you know an open server to connect to. But if you can't find one, you can always create your own. Benefits include the ability to set your own rules, such as your preferred world and maximum number of players.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the folder where you have "Terraria" installed. If you do not know where it is, right-click the "Terraria" game shortcut and click "Open File Location."

    • 2

Double-click the "TerrariaServer" file in the "Terraria" folder window.

    • 3

Type in the number that matches the "Terraria" world you wish to use when creating the server. Press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to proceed. If you wish to make a new world, press the "n" key on your keyboard and follow the instructions.

    • 4

Type in the maximum number of players you want to allow on your server and press the "Enter" key. You cannot enter more than 8 players.

    • 5

Press the "Enter" key to use the default "Terraria" port or enter a new one if you believe the port is being used by another application.

    • 6

Enter the password you wish to set for your server to prevent unauthorized access. Press the "Enter" key without typing in a password if you do not wish to set one. If you get a firewall prompt, click "Allow Access" so other players can connect to your computer. The "Terraria" server will stay active until you close the "Terraria" server window.
