How to Let People Join Your LAN World in Minecraft

"Minecraft" includes built-in support to enable other players on your LAN to connect to a world you create. Users don't need to be connected to your physical network to access the world, either, as you can set up a virtual LAN for others to connect to over the Web via software like LogMeIn Hamachi or Comodo Unite -- the virtual network acts just like a physical connection. After creating a new game, configure "Minecraft" to allow players on your network to join the world.

Instructions

    • 1

Open "Minecraft," select "Single Player" from the options on the main screen, and then click "Create New World."

    • 2

Enter a name for the world into the provided field, and then click "Game World: Survival" to toggle between Survival mode, Creative mode or Hardcore mode.

    • 3

Click "Create New World" to start the game. Press "Esc" to bring up the Game menu, and then click "Open to LAN."

    • 4

Set the game mode, click "Allow Cheats: Off" to toggle cheats on or off, and then click "Start LAN World."

    • 5

Write down the IP address and port number displayed on the bottom of the screen, and then give this information to the other players on your LAN to enable them to join the game.
