How to Download Escape Island for Minecraft

In Escape Island, a free mod available for the PC game "Minecraft," your character wakes up in a cabin with no idea how he got there. After leaving the cabin, you have to solve a variety of mind-bending puzzles to find a way off the island. Once you've downloaded the Escape Island mod, install it by copying the file to your "Minecraft" folder.

  Start your "Minecraft" game, and then click the "Options" button next to the Username field.

  Note your "Minecraft" folder location below the Force Update button. Unless you've moved the folder to a different location, this is typically C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.

  Go to the Escape Island download page on the MinecraftDL website (link in Resources).

  Scroll down and select the correct Escape Island file for your version of "Minecraft." As of July 2013, the latest version is 1.6.

  Click "Save File" to download the file to your computer.

  Go to the Windows Start screen and move the mouse pointer to the top-right corner of the screen. Click the search bar, and then type "File Explorer."

  Click "Apps," and then select "File Explorer."

  Click on the Escape Island folder, click the "Compressed Folder Tools" tab, and then select "Extract All."

  Copy the extracted Escape Island folder to your "Minecraft" saves folder.

  Start "Minecraft," log in to your account, and then select "Escape Island" from the "Select World" menu to play the mod.
