How to Make a Shelf in Minecraft on PC

In "Minecraft," a world-building game for the PC, bookshelves used to just be decorative objects to spruce up your character's rooms. However, the game has since given bookshelves far more importance, granting them the ability to increase an enchantment table's power. Building bookshelves involves assembling various components, but the process begins with creating a crafting table from wood planks.

Instructions

- 1
  Gather a wood cube of any kind of wood. Click the "E" button to access your inventory. Place the wood cube into any of the four inventory squares. Convert the wood cube into four wood planks.

  Place one wood plank into each square of the inventory window. Convert the planks into one crafting table, which provides a grid of nine squares for crafting.

  Move the crafting table from the inventory to your hot bar. Select the crafting table and then right-click on a spot within your character's home to place the crafting table.

  Collect three pieces of sugar cane. Place the sugar cane in the crafting table's middle horizontal row. Convert the sugar cane into three pieces of paper.

  Place the three pieces of paper into the squares of the crating table's middle vertical column. Convert the paper into one book.

  Repeat the above process until you produce three books.

  Place one wood cube of any type of wood into any square of the crafting table. Convert the cube into four wood planks. Repeat the same process to make an additional four wood planks.

  Place the three books in the middle horizontal row of the crafting table. Fill the crafting table's top and bottom rows with wood planks. Convert the books and planks into one bookshelf.
