How to Play Minecraft Without Downloading

"Minecraft" challenges you to survive in an open world environment that can be altered by your actions. Before you can play the game, it must first be purchased and downloaded from the official website. You are, however, allowed to play a portion of the game for free to determine if it is something that you would be interested in purchasing. To play the demo version straight from your Web browser without any downloads, all you need is a free account.

Instructions

  Navigate to the Minecraft website (link in Resources) and log in to your account. If you do not already have an account, click the "Register" button and complete the form to create a new account.

  Click the "Play the Demo" link below the "Buy Now" button on the right side of the page after you have logged in to your account.

  Click the "Run this time" button if you receive a Java permission request. The browser version of "Minecraft" requires Java to run, which, depending on your security settings, might be disabled.

  Click the "Play Demo World" button once the game has finished loading to play it directly from your browser.
