Camera Control
Camera control in BC2 is tied to the player's aim, which in turn is controlled by the movement of the player's mouse. Moving the mouse in any direction causes the camera to move in that direction as well. If the computer loses communication with the mouse, then the camera can become "stuck" looking up or in another direction because it is no longer receiving directional input from the mouse. If communication is lost, the mouse may need to be disconnected and reconnected to reestablish a connection. Wireless mice may also suffer a connection loss due to low battery power, requiring a new battery before the mouse will function properly.
Tracking Problems
If dirt or other materials interfere with the movement tracking ability of the player's mouse, then not all motions by the player will register. This is especially problematic for players who use an LED or laser mouse because the light used for tracking will reflect off the stationary dirt or other material that is stuck to the lens on the bottom of the mouse and won't register any movement. Cleaning the mouse's tracking components eliminates this problem and prevents sticking in-game.
Improper Game Settings
Setting custom control settings using the in-game options menu can occasionally result in the loss of mouse control as well. If you are setting weapon commands or other actions to the mouse buttons, any inadvertent movement of the mouse can cause the action to be bound to the mouse motion instead of the button click it was intended for. During gameplay the game will no longer respond to mouse movements properly because of this incorrect setting. Resetting the control options to the default settings corrects this problem.
Anti-Piracy Tactic
In an effort to prevent software piracy, the game's developer introduced a "bug" into the game that only activates if the game detects that it is not a legal copy. This intentional bug makes all movement attempts cause the camera to begin tilting toward the sky instead of creating movement in the appropriate direction. The intended result of this is to make the game unplayable on pirated game copies because players would end up standing stationary on the battlefield while looking straight up.
