Players must have a full installation of this game and a valid CD key for both ̶0;Warcraft III̶1; and the expansion in order to play DotA online.

  Download the patch file from Battle.net. The patch file contains a ZIP file that should auto-extract on most modern operating systems. Playing with the latest version of the game ensures that all players have the same units, abilities and base programs. Official DotA servers check game versions prior to allowing a player to join a match.
