"Splinter Cell: Conviction"
"Splinter Cell: Conviction" is the sixth game in the "Splinter Cell" game series. Like previous games, players control Sam Fisher in stealth-based game play across a variety of levels including Washington, D.C., and Russia. Like past "Splinter Cell" games, "Conviction" features single player, cooperative and multiplayer game modes. The game is available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms with no changes in game play between the three platforms.
Internet Connection
The PC version differs in one key area: the digital rights management, or DRM, of the title. For PC games, DRM is designed to be a piracy deterrent; in the case of "Splinter Cell: Conviction," the DRM requires that you remain connected to the Internet while playing the game. If the game is not launching from the Ubisoft Game Launcher, check your Internet connection. If you are not connected, the game does not load. If you lose your Internet connection at any time, the game closes and you are brought back to the launcher until you re-establish an Internet connection.
Reinstall Launcher
If you receive the message "Error Code 1" when attempting to use the Ubisoft Game Launcher, you must manually reinstall the Game Launcher. To do this, first delete the Ubisoft Game Launcher from the "Add/Remove Programs" feature on Windows 7. In addition, delete the Ubisoft Game Launcher and any remnants of the program from your hard drive after the Game Launcher uninstalls. After this is complete, download and install a copy of the Ubisoft Game Launcher from Ubisoft's website; the download is free and corrects the "Error Code 1" error.
Close Additional Programs
If you attempt to run the Ubisoft Game Launcher while running additional programs on your computer, this can cause complications with the Game Launcher. Turn off all anti-virus or other related programs before playing the game. When finished with the game, be sure to turn them back on. If you use a firewall, make sure the Ubisoft Game Launcher is given proper access; consult your firewall's documentation for the specific instructions. In addition to your anti-virus program, turn off as many background programs as you can before attempting to load the Ubisoft Game Launcher and play "Splinter Cell: Conviction."
