How to Make Gone Fishin' Run in DOSBox

Running games that were designed for Microsoft DOS can be a challenge on today's newer PCs. One of the best emulators for running DOS games is called DOSBox. It is an open source program, making it free to download, install and use. Getting "Gone Fishin'" running under DOSBox can be a challenge if you have not previously configured the emulator. But even without much DOS experience, you can have "Gone Fishin'" up and running in under 30 minutes, from start to finish.

Instructions

    • 1

Download DOSBox on to your computer. Double-click the downloaded program and follow the on-screen prompts for installing the emulator.

    • 2

Click "Start" and "Computer" to open up your computer hard drive's screen. Double-click "C," then right-click on an open part of the screen and select "Create New Folder." Label the folder "DOS" and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

    • 3

Double-click the "DOSBox" icon on your computer's desktop. Type "Mount c c:\DOS" into the DOSBox terminal window (Please note that if "\" does not work, you can substitute it with "/" in most cases).

    • 4

Copy the extracted contents of "Gone Fishin'" into the "DOS" folder on your C: drive. Type "C:" in the DOSBox window. Type "cd (name of folder you created for the game)" and press "Enter."

    • 5

Type "setup.exe" to run the setup configuration script for "Gone Fishin'" on your computer. Follow the on-screen prompts (most systems will allow you to press "Enter" with the default option) to complete the configuration process. Type "gfishexe" to run the game.
