How to Fix the Lag in Big Bang in MapleStory

"MapleStory" is an online computer game in which characters challenge monsters, solve puzzles and go on adventurous quests. "The Big Bang," an optional update for "MapleStory," is associated with lag issues due to the high volume of players. The lag is a connection issue with the server, Nexon, that hosts the game. To troubleshoot the lag problem, you must make changes to the settings on your computer and check the connectivity to Nexon.

  Check the settings for the game. Make sure the options are set for high performance. A high performance setting switches the computer over to a game mode, which offers a reduced lag time with interactive programs.

  Delete the history in your browser and reduce other programs that you have running at the same time. When "MapleStory" is the only program running, the connectivity becomes quicker, reducing lag.

  Turn the game off. Change the battery power settings on the computer. Click on the battery icon, review the options and select the one that provides the highest performance. Turn the game back on and check to see if the new setting improves the lag issue.

  Ping the connection to test how fast the connection is to the Nexon server. Go to the "Command Prompt" option on your computer, which is found in the "Programs" or "Accessories" files. Double click "Command Prompt." Input the word "ping," then leave one space and type the web address for "MapleStory," so it looks like:
  ping maplestory.nexon.net
  Hit "Enter" and wait for the results to show. The results tell you the connection speed, which could indicate an issue with your computer connecting to the server, not a problem with the "MapleStory" game.

  Replace your video card. An old or outdated video card could cause lag.
