Guide for Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth 2

̶0;The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth 2,̶1; also known as ̶0;BFMEII,̶1; is a real-time strategy game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings, and published by Electronic Arts. This game is an expansion to EA's original ̶0;Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth,̶1; and allows players to command the evil Angmar faction, as well as the previous game's Elves, Men and other good forces.
  1. Good Forces

    • ̶0;BFMEII̶1; offers several races, each with its own units. The game divides these races into the forces of good and the forces of evil. Good races include the Elves, the Men of the West and the Dwarves. Elves excel with bows, Men with cavalry units and Dwarves in producing resources, such as Battlewagons. Each race offers a series of heroes with special abilities for which you have to pay extra up front. More expensive heroes, such as Gandalf or Elrond, have stronger abilities. You can use Evenstar powers to protect or add power to your units.

    Evil Forces

    • The forces of evil include Goblins and the Orcs and Trolls of Mordor and Isengard. The Goblins have less-powerful archers and warriors than other races in the game, but are less expensive and allow you to overwhelm your opponents through sheer numbers. Mordor orcs offer Attack Trolls, Mumakil and other very powerful units, while Isengard produces specialist Orc units and Wargs. Evil players can also use the power of the One Ring to boost their units' power. Like the good forces, evil forces offer heroes, ranging from inexpensive options like Wormtongue, to powerful, expensive units such as Drogoth the Dragon Lord.

    Good Campaign

    • The good forces' campaign begins at Rivendell. You must defend the town from attack and destroy the Goblin base to the south. The next area, High Pass, requires you to build an Elven Barracks, Green Pasture, Battle Tower, Watch Tower, Lorien Archers and Rivendell Lancers, then destroy the goblins to your north. Send your heroes north to encounter the Mountain Giant, then rescue Haldir and kill the Watcher in the Water. In the Ettenmoors, guide your units to reach the Elven settlement, then drive out the Goblins and free the Entmoot. Destroy the Goblin King's stronghold. Slay a Dragon in the Blue Mountains area.

The Grey Havens area requires you to clear out all enemy forces, secure the shipwrights and build at least four Elven Warships, an Elven Storm Ship and an Elven Transport Ship. Destroy the Corsair Naval blockade and capture the Corsair Shipwrights, then repel the beach assault. In the Celduin area, start by returning to the docks. Repel the Mumakil assault and destroy the Mordor Fortress. In Erebor, defeat three waves of Mordor attackers, then destroy the Goblin base. In Dol Guldur, find and capture both Signal Fires, then breach the fortress and destroy all free-standing Mordor structures. Dol Guldur is the last area. Successfully completing it wins the game.

    Evil Campaign

    • The evil forces' campaign begins in Lorien, where you must build a Goblin Cave, two Goblin Hordes, a tunnel, a fissure, and a Cave Troll, then destroy two Elven treehouses and Caras Galadhon. In the Grey Havens, capture the shipwright, build three Corsair Black Ships, sink the Elven convoy, destroy the Elven Battle Towers, defend your troop transports and destroy the Elves on the beach as well as their three fortresses. In the Shire, head to the Eastfarthing and destroy the four Seats of Power. Defeat the Dunedain, kill Wormtongue and destroy the Isengard fortress. At Fornost, destroy all the structures in the outer city, then the citadel and the Earth Hammer. In Mirkwood, move to the Old Forest Road and destroy the Ent base. Build sentry towers before the Elves can.

In the Withered Heath area, find the Dragon Lord and free the Fire Drakes from the Dwarven Bases. In Erebor, destroy the buildings of Dale and the throne of Erebor. Finish the game in Rivendell by penetrating the perimeter, destroying the House of Elrond and surrounding Fortresses and protecting Sauron throughout the battle.
