Getting Started
Even with the "Extinct Animals" expansion, Challenge Mode starts the game with limited resources and a short list of available animals. To access the rare extinct animals, increase your fame level and acquire enough money to build an extinct research lab. Select a moderate amount of beginning capital and begin building your exhibits. Your fame will steadily increase as your park grows and develops impressive exhibits.
Extinct Research Lab
The extinct research lab facility is the key to unlocking extinct animal exhibits for your park. The building is large and expensive, but the resource's minigames allow you to acquire and protect new extinct animals. Collect fossils by digging in the dirt around your zoo and deliver these items to your paleontologist to start a new minigame. Once you complete the fossil's DNA minigame, you receive a new extinct animal.
Extinct Animal Statues
Add an extinct education center and an attached play dig pit to entertain your guests. While you continue to build your park, guests dig up fossils in the pit and place them on display in the education center. When enough fossils have been recovered, you receive a statue of an extinct animal. You can collect four of these statues and place them anywhere in your park.
Extinct Animal Restoration Society Challenge
In exchange for a cash donation, the Extinct Animal Restoration Society wants photos of your most rare extinct animals. Snap a photo of a wooly mammoth standing next to a glacier and a giant wart hog near a tar pit. Finally, grab a picture of a gigantopithicus eating a shoot of bamboo to receive your reward.
