Rare Spawns
The definition of spawning is the act of an enemy appearing into the game world. On average, enemies respawn into the world a few minutes after they are defeated. Occasionally, rather than the normal enemy spawning, a more powerful version of that creature appears. This is called a rare spawn or Named Monster as it is officially known, and "Aion" features over 50 of them. Rare spawns can be immediately identified by the fact they have a unique name compared to the generic name of other enemies as well as a different look. For example, instead of a Mine Mage spawning, Archmage Megran can spawn instead. There are typically four to six rare spawns per region. Rare spawns do not spawn in one set location, instead spawning in a radius in one section of the region wherever the regular version of the enemy can spawn. In addition to the normal rare spawns, which you can kill, there are also Elite, Hero and Legend rare spawns.
Elite Rare Spawns
Elite rare spawns are more difficult to battle than normal rare spawn. As with all monsters, you can tell the classification of a rare spawn in the target window when it is selected. Battling elite rare spawns require a small group of players, usually three players at most, to successfully defeat. Examples of elite rare spawns include Glugbeard in Inggison, the Klaw Spawnmaster in Morheim and Mistryl in Eltnen. Generally, an Elite rare spawn drops superior armor and weapons when it is defeated, along with the occasional heroic item. You receive additional experience for defeating a rare spawn and a larger than normal amount of Kinah, Aion's currency. The amount of both varies on the difficulty of the rare spawn defeated.
Hero Rare Spawns
Hero rare spawns are the next tier of rare spawns you can encounter in the world. As these enemies are even more difficult than the Elite rare spawns to battle, a full group of six players is required to defeat them. Some examples of Hero rare spawns include Chieftain Shaku in Eltnen, Lost Balor in Theobomos and Highpriest Heika in Gelkmaros. Generally, Hero rare spawns drop a combination of heroic weapons and armor and the occasional eternal item. Often, Hero rare spawns are accompanied by normal enemies who act as bodyguards. It is wise to defeat these enemies first so that you can fully concentrate on the Hero rare spawn.
Legend Rare Spawns
Legend rare spawns are some of the most difficult monsters in the game. Their size alone is impressive; they are often much larger than the average player or enemy. These enemies require an alliance to defeat; a group of 24 players, which is the combined effort of four groups. Expect a long and difficult battle when engaging with a Legend rare spawn, such as Ragnarok and Padmarashka in Gelkmaros and Sematariux and Omega in Inggison. Once defeated, they drop legendary weapons and armor, some of the most powerful in the game. These items also have their own distinctive look, letting other players know just by looking at you that you defeated one of these difficult enemies.
