Strategy Guide for Knights of the Old Republic 2

Obsidian̵7;s ̶0;Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords̶1; is a cross-platform role playing video game featuring multiple storylines and several ways to develop your character. Depending on your choices, your character becomes either Light or Dark, with the ultimate goal of achieving a Prestige Class ̵2; a powerful character wholly devoted to either one side or the other.
  1. General Strategy

    • Because many decisions made in the game affect which side your character aligns with, ultimately determining which Prestige Class options become available, the most advanced players of ̶0;KoTOR II̶1; generally decide early on which side ̵2; Light or Dark ̵2; they want to cultivate. The Dark Side Prestige Classes offer greater destructive power during combat, while the Light Side Prestige Classes offer more healing and special skill possibilities. Your character̵7;s alignment is developed via a point system. Selfish, destructive and unnecessarily violent choices increase Dark Side points; good deeds and honorable behavior increase Light Side points. It is also possible to develop a character with an even balance between the two, but this will limit your Prestige Class options later.

    Character Creation

    • At the beginning of ̶0;KoTOR II,̶1; the player chooses a character class and distributes points across the character̵7;s statistics. This opportunity should be taken to design a character that fits your playing style. For example, if you want a combat-focused character, it is best to emphasize the Strength, Constitution and Dexterity statistics. For a more skills-focused character, Intelligence and Wisdom should be emphasized. Further, your choice of character class determines which Prestige Classes are viable later, depending on your Light and Dark side points balance. For example, the Jedi Guardian character class is best for achieving Light Side Prestige Classes, while the other two classes are better for achieving Dark Side Prestige Classes.

    Force Powers and Combat

    • The Force Powers your character develops play a major role in determining their alignment and directly impact your success in combat. For example, if your goal is a Light Side Prestige Class, developing and using the Stun and Heal series̵7; of Force Powers will help. For those whose goal is the Dark Side, the Drain Life, Shock and Wound Force Powers are best. Regardless of alignment, it is best to focus on a few Force Power series and develop them to the exclusion of others ̵2; this will result in a much more powerful character when it comes time to select a Prestige Class.

    Companions

    • Another feature of ̶0;KoTOR II̶1; is the companion system. As the game progresses, you meet various characters who can accompany and help you on your way. The advantage of using companions is two-fold: they help your character in combat and they often offer skills and abilities that complement your character̵7;s own. This can be extremely helpful at many points in the game. Most companions are optional, depending on your alignment, but it is best to take advantage of them when you can.
