'Napoleon: Total War'
"Napoleon: Total War," the sixth game released in the "Total War" franchise, is developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega exclusively for the PC. The game is split into two parts: a turn-based strategy game where you manage your cities and structures from an overhead map and a real-time strategy game where you pit your army against another army in battle. Players take on the role of Napoleon in a majority of the game's campaigns. However, the last campaign sees you attempting to defeat Napoleon. "Napoleon: Total War" is a Steamworks-enabled game and requires the Steam digital distribution service to play.
Symptoms of Overheating
Your computer displays several symptoms when it overheats, depending on which hardware component is affected. In minor cases, the computer may stutter or lag for a few seconds when attempting to perform an action. In more severe cases, the computer may freeze up, forcing a reboot, or it may reboot itself without your consent. For a video card, overheating causes artifacts to appear. Generally, these manifest as small, white cubes on the screen, but they can be any color and any shape with the overarching trait being any sort of graphical distortion. If you notice any symptoms of overheating, turn the computer off immediately; continuing to work with a computer that overheats can cause permanent damage to the hardware.
Overheating and "Napoleon: Total War"
For "Napoleon: Total War," the two main culprits for overheating issues are most likely your processor or your graphics card because of the strain the game can put on both. Due to the large amount of detail the game must render during a battle, this is generally where overheating starts. The common cause is video settings that are set too high, causing your graphics card and processor to stay at full power to meet the demands. In addition, if the graphics card or processor does not meet the minimum requirements, the game could place too much of a strain on your hardware components.
How to Fix Overheating
There are a few ways to fix overheating when dealing with "Napoleon: Total War" or any other game. Make sure that all the fans in your computer's case are functioning and free of dirt and dust. If possible, add additional cooling options such as extra fans or liquid cooling. Upgrade the computer's processor or graphics card to meet the demands of "Napoleon: Total War." If this is not possible, adjust the graphics under the "Graphics" setting in the "Options" menu. Turning down the Anti-Aliasing, Texture Filtering and Shadows greatly decreases the stress placed on the components. You can turn down all options at once by selecting "Low" from the "Quality" menu on the left side of the screen.
