How to Use Unreal Editor in Borderlands

Unlike the game's console versions, the PC version of the "Borderlands" first-person shooter can be modified using the Unreal Editor. With this tool, players can modify the game's maps, characters and weapons and customize the game to no end. You cannot use the Unreal Editor on the game by default, but it can be enabled through the use of Dr. Zed's UED Patch, which can be downloaded from the GearBox Software website. With this patch installed, you must simply create a shortcut of the game file and modify the shortcut's properties in order to edit the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click the Dr. Zed UED Patch zip file and select the "Extract to..." option. Extract the zip file's contents to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Gearbox Software\Borderlands" directory.

    • 2

Double-click the "win7_fix.bat" file that was included in the zip file and follow the onscreen instructions to run the file and install the patch.

    • 3

Right-click the "Borderlands.exe" file and select the "Create Shortcut" option to create a shortcut of the file.

    • 4

Right-click the shortcut and select the "Properties" option. Add " -editor" after the text in the field labeled "Target." Click the "OK" button to save the changes.

    • 5

Double-click the shortcut to launch the game in Unreal Editor mode. You can now create new levels, modify your characters and edit the game as you see fit.
