Effective Park Layout
Making the most of the space in your park is essential in maximizing revenue by providing easy access to rides and amenities, and some Career Mode scenarios force you to design new attractions around pre-existing rides and facilities. Place an information stand near your entrance, as newly arriving peeps will buy maps, allowing them to quickly find enticing attractions and spend more money on rides than they would otherwise. Build your most exciting rides toward the rear of your park, as this gives peeps a reason to wander through your entire park, making them more likely to spend money on rides and concessions.
Roller Coaster Attributes
"Roller Coaster Tycoon 3's" roller coasters possess numerical Excitement, Intensity and Nausea attributes ranging from one to 10. Excitement is determined by the intricacy of your track layout and is the most important single factor for determining how many peeps ride the coaster. Intensity is determined by factors such as plummeting drops and dizzying loops, and while a high intensity can attract young riders, it can also be offset by the ride's Nausea attribute, which determines the likelihood of peeps vomiting after the ride. Cleaning up after these peeps takes your janitors away from other tasks, while the sight can revolt other peeps, turning them away from the ride. Aim for a mid-range intensity figure, as this will attract thrill-seekers while still making the ride enticing for older peeps.
Maximizing Profits
While you want to maximize your profits from park attractions, setting prices too high will drive peeps away, especially if you charge admission to the park along with fees for each ride. If you decide to charge park admission, set low prices for most attractions, adding a small premium for the rides with the highest Excitement values. Place ATMs throughout your park, as peeps who run out of money will leave, while those with ready access to cash will stay in your park longer and spend more money.
Catering to Peeps
Each peep has his own preferences concerning the types of rides and refreshments that appeal to him, and part of what determines a peep's taste is his demographic group. Teens and young adults gravitate toward the more extreme thrill rides, while children and elderly patrons are drawn to your park's more sedate attractions. While you can't please every peep, aim for a cross-section of attractions to appeal to the most diverse customer base possible. You can click on individual peeps to see what they think of your park's rides and concessions, giving you data to help direct your future building decisions.
