How to Make a Portable Application in Sandbox

A sandbox program helps run other programs to facilitate programming and function. Sandbox programs have many uses, including creating portable programs for use on multiple computers. Creating a portable drive is not difficult, and takes just a few extra steps in addition to basic program installation. Portable sandbox programming is ideal for moving a computer game from one computer to another as well as for programming and work-related programs.

Sandbox program
USB storage device

Instructions

  Install the sandbox program onto your computer.

  Open the program and set up drive ̶0;P̶1; onto a USB or other portable device.

  Create a new sandbox. Give the sandbox a recognizable name. Set the container folder to P:\Sandbox\%USER%\%SANDBOX%. Replace the percent folders with your user folder and the name of your sandbox.

  Install the program into the sandboxed folder. Remove the USB from the computer.

  Take the USB to a new computer. Open the sandbox program in that computer. Set the container folder to drive ̶0;P.̶1;

  Start the program out of the Sandboxie program. The game will pick up all of the information and settings from the original computer on the new computer.
