How to Land a Plane With the Altitude Instructions in Flight Simulator X

Released for the PC in 2006, Microsoft's "Flight Simulator X" offers dozens of aircraft to pilot open-world flying and objective-based missions in exotic locals. The essential components of the gameplay -- taking off, navigating and landing -- can rise and fall in difficulty depending on the game's skill setting. However, landing an aircraft within the parameters of your aircraft's altitude requirements is one of the more difficult tasks you will face. In this scenario, you must take into account not just the altitude of your plane (its distance above the ground), but your speed and the distance to the runway.

Instructions

    • 1

Press "F1" when you're 15 miles away from the airport to decrease your power to idle, then press "8" to adjust your pitch downward and initiate a decent to 2,000 feet.

    • 2

Press "F7" to add flaps, reducing your speed to 180 knots.

    • 3

Press "/" (forward slash) to put your spoilers down at 2,000 feet. This will reduce your speed to around 150 knots.

    • 4

Press "G" to lower the landing gear, then press "F7" to deploy the rest of your flaps.

    • 5

Press "Shift" and "/" at the same time to arm the spoilers, then click on the autobrake knob to activate it.

    • 6

Adjust the maw by pressing "0" and "Enter." Keep the numbers on the runway ahead in the center of your screen.

    • 7

Hold "F1" to completely reduce your power as you fly over the runway at an altitude of 50 feet. Allow your back wheels to hit the runway first.

    • 8

Press "8" to slowly bring the nose of your plane down.

    • 9

Press "F2" to fire your reverse thrusters, then press "F1" to disengage them when your speed hits 60 knots. Now you will slow to a stop.
