When Should I Cap My Dex as an Aran in MapleStory?

Dexterity is primarily responsible for allowing your character to have greater accuracy. This is why it's so important for characters with projectile weapons, like assassins and gunslinger pirates, and characters that perform physical rather than magic-based attacks. Arans are a class that use the pole arm as a weapon. This long-shafted weapon is tipped with a sharp head or blade that inflicts physical damage on the enemy, and dexterity is important to avoid missing monsters.
  1. Ability

    • Dexterity is one of the basic ability stats of any character in "MapleStory." The other three are strength, intelligence and luck. Each type of character build focuses on two of the four abilities, and you add points to these while ignoring the other ability sections. You earn five ability points each time you level after completing the beginning quests. Aran characters use a build that focuses on strength as the primary and dexterity as the secondary ability.

    Dexterity Guide

    • The recommended AP build for Arans is to keep your dexterity points at twice the amount of your current level. Thus, at level 30, you want 60 dexterity points. You can achieve this build by adding two dexterity points per level, applying the other three points to strength. If you use MapleStory's "auto" feature to assign your ability points, the game will use this method until level 30. After this level, the game will distribute one point into dexterity per level until you reach 70.

    Capping Dexterity

    • Capping refers to the point at which you stop distributing points to certain abilities. At level 70, you can stop adding points to your character build. If you have followed the recommended build, you will have approximately 80 ability points in dexterity. This allows you to maintain accuracy when attacking.

    Considerations

    • Consider a low dexterity build, which caps out much sooner -- between 40 and 60 points -- if you have the funds to purchase equipment that add to your dexterity points. You can also purchase equipment and modify it with scrolls to increase dexterity. This enables you to put more points into strength, for an attack that is both accurate and strong, dealing more damage to your enemy. If you do not have equipment or scrolls to offset a low dex build, cap your dexterity at around 80 and not lower.
