How Do I Reconnect to a Server in Heroes of Newerth?

The competitive multiplayer strategy game "Heroes of Newerth" contains many new features compared to its inspiration, the classic "Warcraft III" mod "Defense of the Ancients." One of the most important features is the ability to automatically reconnect to a game in progress after a computer crash or Internet service interruption; in "Defense of the Ancients," you were unable to resume and finish the game in progress, often crippling your team. However, the automatic reconnect feature for "Heroes of Newerth" does not always work. Occasionally, the game may not recognize that it needs to reconnect; in that case, you will need to use a special command to force the game to reconnect.

     Press the "Ctrl" and "F8" keys on your keyboard simultaneously to open the Console.

     Type "Reconnect" into the Console and press "Enter."

     Repeat the "Reconnect" command if the game does not reconnect immediately. If it continues to not work, try closing "Heroes of Newerth" and opening it again.

     Close the Console with the "Ctrl" and "F8" keys once you successfully reconnect to the game.
