How to Make Map Mods for Halo Trial

Download and install "Halo" map editing software such as "Halo" Mapping Tools or "Halo" Map Editor.

Open the editing software, and then click the "Open" button. Navigate to the map file in your "Halo" folder, or open a map that you have downloaded from the Internet.

Familiarize yourself with the most important features of the map editing software, such as the Spawn Edit tool and the Map Edit tool, which are main features of nearly every map editing program. The Spawn Edit tool allows you to change the locations and spawn rate of players and items. The Map Edit tool allows you to modify the actual terrain of the map, such as buildings and bridges. Refer to the program's Read Me file to learn the more complicated details of these tools. Many map editing programs have user-created tutorials or manuals.

Make modifications to the map. Maintain balance between the two teams that will play on the map by giving them equal opportunities, weapon spawns and tactically advantageous terrain.

Save the map to your desktop by clicking the "Save" button. Give the map a new name that is distinct from the map that you modified. For example, if you created a map based off of Blood Gulch, then name it "Blood Gulch Mod."

Crate a new folder in your "Halo" maps folder and title it "New Maps." Move the newly created map into that folder.

Run "Halo" and start a game in Trial Mode. In the map selection screen, open the folder titled "New Maps" and navigate to your modded map to play it.
