How to Beat the Tile Mini-Game in Mystery of Mortlake Mansion

One of the many puzzles in the game "Mystery of Mortlake Mansion" -- a game where you explore an old mansion to discover its secrets -- involves a nine-piece picture slider puzzle that can be a bit tricky to solve. You will encounter the puzzle during Chapter 5 when you enter the Observatory, where you will find the puzzle sitting on a desk. If you're frustrated by the puzzle, you can employ a few techniques that will get you through the puzzle in no time and on to the next challenge.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange the tiles so that they are in the order of 1-2-3 on the top row, 4-5-6 on the middle row and 7-8-9 on the bottom row. At the start, the top row will contain tiles 8-1-7, the middle row will have tiles 3-6-9 and the bottom row will have 4-5-2, in that order. The #5 "tile" is the empty slot that you move the tiles into. You want to end up with the center tile empty.

    • 2

String the tiles together rather than try to place each individual tile in its final spot on the grid. Maneuver the #1 tile so it is next to the #2 tile, and then maneuver the #3 tile so it is connected to the #1 and #2 tiles.

    • 3

Move the tiles as a chain and "snake" your way to the top to place the three tiles where they belong all at once. Use this maneuver on the bottom two rows until you have all of the tiles in place.
