Practice with the game as much as possible, on the fastest computer possible in order to develop your reflexes. A slow computer will hinder your ability to react as quickly as possible. You can clear gems as they are falling into place, and a good player will be continually making moves without pausing. Unlike "normal" Bejeweled, you cannot run out of moves in Blitz. Clearing gems very quickly leads to the bonus mode that creates an explosion every time any three gems are cleared.
Select bonuses and event items based on creating the various power gems. For example, the "Random Gem" bonus may randomly give you a Hypercube, allowing you to start building combos as soon as the game starts. Selecting rare gems as they appear either give you special types of power gems or end-game bonuses that multiply your score, but these cost huge amounts of Blitz coins.
Play near the bottom of the screen and get rid of power gems as soon as possible. The goal here is to create cascades of gems, which have a good chance of spontaneously forming power gems. The combination of clearing multipliers, activating power gems, achieving the bonus mode and using rare event items help players go from hundreds of thousands of points to a million.
