How Do You Make a New Spawn Point in Minecraft?

"Minecraft," an independently-developed creation game by Mojang Games, originally picked a random spawn point for players when they first created a world. However, as a part of the Beta 1.7.0 update, Mojang added beds to the game. Beds in "Minecraft" serve two purposes: to reset your spawn point to wherever you place your bed and to help you skip through the entire night cycle to avoid the aggressive nighttime monsters.

Instructions

    • 1

Craft shears. Shears require two iron ingots, which you obtain by smelting harvested iron ore, and you create these to shave sheep of their wool without having to harm them.

    • 2

Hold the shears in your hand and right-click a sheep to shave it. Shaving sheep gives you three to four blocks of wool, which is enough to assist you in crafting a bed. If you are too much in a hurry to get a bed, you can skip making shears and defeat a sheep to get a single block of wool.

    • 3

Chop down a tree to get wooden logs. Alternatively, you can punch the tree for the logs, but an axe makes the process faster. One log is sufficient to assist in crafting the bed.

    • 4

Right-click your crafting table to open a 3-by-3 crafting grid. Drag the log into any square to produce wooden planks.

    • 5

Fill the bottom row of the crafting grid with wooden planks. Fill the center row with the wool you collected earlier. Leave the top row empty. This crafts the bed into your inventory.

    • 6

Hold the bed and right-click anywhere to place it on the ground. Right-click the bed to sleep in it at any point during the nighttime, moving your spawn point to the bed.
