How to Play With Two Players on 'Diablo II' in the Same House

"Diablo II" was released in 2000, before many players had reliable Internet connections. Though the game has the capability to be played through online servers on Battle.net, many Diablo II players opted to use a Local Area Network, or LAN, connection to game with other people in a shared location. If you want to go old school and set up a Diablo II LAN, you will need two computers with Internet access. Even though you won't be connecting to a remote server, you will still need Internet access to network the computers. Choose the faster of your two computers to be the host computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Diablo II on your host computer. Within the main menu, click the "Other Multiplayer" game option. Select "TCP/IP Connection."

    • 2

Click "Host Game." The host computer's IP address appears on the screen. Write down the IP address. Enter the game on the host computer, but don't begin playing yet.

    • 3

Launch Diablo II on the connecting computer. Click the "Other Multiplayer" option. Select "TCP/IP." Click "Join Game." Enter the IP address written down in step 2. Once the connection has been established, you'll see both of your characters on each computer. At this point, you're ready to play the game.
