How to Fly Citation-X FlightGear

̶0;FlightGear̶1; is a flight simulator for personal computers with which you fly a variety of aircraft, including the Cessna Citation-X. The Citation-X is one of the fastest business class civilian planes in the world. It travels at a top speed of Mach .92 which is just shy of the sound barrier. The Cessna Citation-X is not one of the aircraft included with the FlightGear software package when purchased but you can download it.

Instructions

  1. Get the Citation-X

      Download the Cessna Citation-X from from the FlightGear website. Save the file to the ̶0;data/Aircraft̶1; subdirectory in the folder in which FlightGear is saved. Unzip the file to the same folder. Rename the .xml file ̶0;Citation-X.xml.̶1;

      Open the FlightGear simulator.

      Type ̶0;--aircraft=Citation-X̶1; in the command prompt to begin flight simulation with the Cessna Citation-X. You begin in the cockpit of the plane. The controls are engaged and disengaged by clicking on them.

    Start the Engine

      Click the cutoff switch to switch it to the ̶0;On̶1; position. A green light will illuminate when done correctly.

      Click the engine starter to ignite the engine.

      Click the cutoff switch to switch it to the ̶0;Off̶1; position once the engine̵7;s N1 reading reaches 5 percent. The green light will shut off.

      Click the engine starter to disengage it once the engine reaches operational speed.

    Takeoff

      Press ̶0;B̶1; to release the parking brake (only if it is engaged). The plane will begin to move forward.

      Press ̶0;9̶1; to increase the throttle. The plane will move faster.

      Press ̶0;8̶1; to raise the plane's elevators as you near the end of the runway. The plane will take off.

    Flight Controls

      Press ̶0;5̶1; to center the aileron, elevators and rudders when you reach a safe elevation, clear of any obstacles.

      Press ̶0;8̶1; to increase altitude. Press ̶0;2̶1; to decrease altitude.

      Press ̶0;4̶1; to steer the plane left. Press ̶0;6̶1; to steer the plane right.

      Press ̶0;9̶1; to increase the throttle or speed of the plane. Press ̶0;3̶1; to decrease the throttle or slow the plane down.
