Prototype is an open-world computer video game released by Radical Entertainment and Activision in 2009. In this game, you take on the role of a man who can mutate his body to use superpowers. Like many PC games, you can change video settings if the game is running with lag. For example, you can lower the overall graphic settings to lessen the view distance, which is how far into the background the player can see at any given time. Too much of the background loaded in the game is one potential source of lag.

Load Prototype to the main menu.

Select "Options" on the main menu, toward the bottom of the list.

Click "Video Options."

Change the graphics to "Low." This is the lowest possible setting can go, making the view distance as minimal as possible.

Click "OK" to save the changes.
