How to Use CFG Editor

̶0;Flight Simulator 2004̶1; is a first-person flight simulation program developed and released by Microsoft in 2003. Power users who want to optimize or otherwise modify the program can edit the ̶0;fs9.cfg̶1; file, which contains graphical and other settings. For those uncomfortable with making configuration changes in a text editor, a program called CFG Editor is available; it is a program that searches for and opens the configuration file in a user interface that has a built-in search function, as well as section and key editing.

Download and unpack the latest version of CFG Editor.

    • 2

Open the unpacked folder and then double-click on the ̶0;FS9CfgEdit̶1; program icon to launch CFG Editor. CFG Editor will parse the system for the ̶0;Flight Simulator 2004̶1; directory and load the fs9.cfg file.

    • 4

Enter a search term in the search box under the left window pane and click ̶0;Find̶1; to parse the fs9.cfg file. This may help you quickly find specific keys to modify.

    • 5

Click the corresponding buttons to add or delete new keys or sections from the configuration file.

    • 6

Click the ̶0;Exit̶1; button when you are finished making changes to the configuration file to close the CFG Editor window. You can now run ̶0;Flight Simulator 2004̶1; with your new settings.
