How to Make a SA-MP 0.3 Server

"Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" is the sixth title in developer Rockstar's popular "Grand Theft Auto" franchise. It is the first game in the series to feature more than one city in a full 3-D, open-world environment. The game did not feature multiplayer capability, but thanks to a very supportive community of players, that feature was added as a modification to the original game. Now players can fight and drive alongside each other in the San Andreas world. If you want to set up a game to play with your friends, you're going to need to create your own server.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the server files from the San Andreas Multiplayer website. To run a version 0.3 server, be sure to download the "SA-MP 0.3c R2 Windows Server" files.

    • 2

Extract the downloaded file using WinZip or WinRAR. The location of the files do not matter.

    • 3

Open the extracted folder and find the file "server.cfg." Right-click this file, select "Open With," and click on "Notepad."

    • 4

Edit any settings you want by changing the words inside the quotation marks next to any of the options. The "hostname" option changes the name people will see when they connect to your server; the "maxplayers" option determines the maximum amount of players that can connect to your server at any one time; and the others are completely optional. If you're not sure what one does, just leave it as is.

    • 5

Click "File" in the upper portion of the Notepad window and select "Save," then close the file.

    • 6

Double click the " samp-server.exe" file to start your SA-MP 0.3 server.
